Dive or scuba watches are a very durable category of sports watch capable of withstanding the high pressures of deep water. Typically this depth is over 330 feet (100 meters) but many diver's watches are capable of much more, even going to depths of 1000 feet and beyond.

Two brands of dive watch that are particularly popular for their affordability are the Casio Sport Divers watch and the Timex Dive Watch. These standard 330-660 ft. watches are just fine for most non-professional diving or other water activities. They look good and represent great value for money.

The international standard for diver's watches is the ISO 6425, and before a watch can be certified with the word "DIVERS" imprinted on its case it must pass a strict series of tests and criteria - besides being water-resistant to depths of 330 feet or greater. A unidirectional bezel, high degree of readability, shock and chemical resistance and watchband robustness are just a few of the requirements.

Six other popular brands of high quality dive watches are featured below:

Seiko Dive Watches
Founded way back in 1881, Seiko claims to have produced the first commercial watch in Japan. Seiko went on to produce many world firsts including the quartz watch and the method of harnessing body movement to power their watches. The Seiko range of dive watches incorporates all of the company's wealth of technological expertise.

Swiss Army Dive Watches
The Swiss are not only famous for pocket knives and chocolate. Watches are their forte too.

Citizen Diver's Watches
Since 1924 the Citizen Watch Company has grown to become the largest maker of watches in the world. They were first to include an inbuilt depth sensor into their dive watches and their innovations continue, like their light-powered Eco Drive range of watches that continuously power themselves from any light source.

Rolex Dive Watches
Many years after producing the world's first totally waterproof watch back in 1926, the Rolex 'Oyster Perpetual Submariner' watch was shot to fame by the legendary James Bond after featuring in his movies as the 'watch of choice' of the British master spy. The main body of the Oyster is machined from a solid block of stainless steel, and after 150 individual steps in the manufacturing process - the final result is an amazing dive watch that is water-resistant to 1000 ft.

Omega Diving Watches
Just as the Rolex Oyster was the preferred choice of all the old James Bonds, the new '007 watch of choice', since Pierce Brosnan, has been the Seamaster Dive Watch by Omega.
The Omega watch has also been made famous for its role as the official timekeeper of recent summer and winter Olympic Games. While the Seamaster can happily go to depths of 1000 feet, another Omega watch, the Planet Ocean is water-resistant to 2000 feet!

Luminox Navy SEAL Dive Watches
The Luminox Navy SEAL watch is unique for its illumination system. Borosilicate glass capsules enable the hands and dial to light up without any batteries or previous light source charging. Originally developed for the US Navy, this is the official SEAL's watch for night time missions.
